Onsior 10mg for Dogs - per Tablet

10mg Onsior for Dogs is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) specifically designed to alleviate pain and inflammation associated with chronic osteoarthritis in dogs. Onsior is part of the coxib class of NSAIDs, which are renowned for their effectiveness and safety.

Chronic osteoarthritis (Arthritis) is a common condition in dogs, particularly as they age. It involves the progressive degeneration of the cartilage within joints, leading to discomfort, pain, and reduced mobility. Arthritis can significantly impact a dog's quality of life, making everyday activities such as walking, running, or even standing up increasingly difficult.

Onsior 10mg works by targeting and inhibiting an enzyme responsible for producing prostaglandins, substances that play a key role in triggering pain and inflammation. By blocking this enzyme, Onsior effectively reduces the discomfort associated with chronic osteoarthritis, helping your dog lead a more active and fulfilling life.

10mg Onsior Tablets for Dogs

Onsior may only be supplied with a valid veterinary prescription issued by your vet. You should only purchase Onsior if you have or are in the process of arranging such a prescription. See information bar for further details.

Onsior 10mg for Dogs are round, beige to brown tablets. They are flavoured to ensure easy administration, with most dogs readily accepting them. The tablets should not be divided or broken and are best administered without food or at least 30 minutes before or after a meal for optimal efficacy.

The recommended dose of Onsior is 1mg/kg body weight, with a range of 1-2 mg/kg. A clinical response is typically seen within a week. If no improvement is apparent after 10 days, treatment should be discontinued. For long-term treatment, once a clinical response has been observed, the dose of Onsior can be adjusted to the lowest effective individual dose, as the degree of pain and inflammation associated with chronic osteoarthritis may vary over time. Regular monitoring by a veterinarian is recommended.

10mg Onsior Tablets are generally well-tolerated by dogs. However, as with any medication, there can be side effects. The most common ones include gastrointestinal events such as vomiting and soft faeces. In most cases, these are mild and resolve without treatment. In rare cases, increases in liver enzyme activities have been observed with long-term treatment. If your dog shows signs such as anorexia, apathy, or vomiting in combination with elevated liver enzymes, therapy should be discontinued and veterinary advice sought.

It's important to note that 10mg Onsior should not be used in dogs suffering from gastrointestinal ulceration or with hepatic disease. It should also not be used concurrently with corticosteroids or other NSAIDs. The safety of Onsior has not been established in dogs weighing less than 2.5 kg or under 3 months of age, in pregnant or lactating dogs, or in dogs used for breeding.

Onsior 10mg for Dogs offers a safe and effective solution for managing the pain and inflammation associated with chronic osteoarthritis in dogs. By helping to alleviate discomfort, it can significantly improve your dog's quality of life, allowing them to enjoy their daily activities with less pain.
