2.5mg Thiafeline Tablet for Cats - per Tablet

2.5mg Thiafeline Tablet for Cats - per Tablet

2.5mg Thiafeline is used for the stabilisation of hyperthyroidism in cats prior to surgical thyroidectomy. It is also used for the long-term treatment of feline hyperthyroidism.

Hyperthyroidism is a prevalent condition in older cats, characterised by an overactive thyroid gland producing excessive amounts of thyroid hormone. This condition can lead to a range of health issues, including weight loss, increased appetite, and behavioural changes. Hyperthyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland, located in the cat's neck, produces an excessive amount of thyroid hormone. This overproduction can accelerate the cat's metabolism, leading to symptoms like rapid weight loss, increased appetite, hyperactivity, and increased thirst and urination. If left untreated, hyperthyroidism can lead to severe complications, including heart disease and hypertension.

Thiafeline 2.5mg for Cats contains the active ingredient Thiamazole. Thiamazole acts by inhibiting the production of thyroid hormones in the thyroid gland. By reducing the levels of these hormones, Thiafeline effectively manages the symptoms of hyperthyroidism, bringing relief to affected cats.

Vivitonin 50mg Tablet - each

Vivitonin 50mg Tablet - each

50mg Vivitonin for Dogs is a prescription-only medication used to support cognitive function and overall vitality in ageing dogs. It contains the active substance propentofylline, which has a range of effects that can help improve circulation, oxygenation, and mental alertness in elderly canines.

Vivitonin is commonly prescribed by veterinary professionals to address signs of dullness, lethargy, and reduced activity levels associated with age-related changes. It is available in scored tablets, making it easier to administer the correct dosage according to the dog’s weight and veterinary guidance.

How Vivitonin Works

The active ingredient in 50mg Vivitonin is propentofylline, a substance known for its ability to improve blood flow and enhance oxygen delivery to tissues. It acts by dilating blood vessels and reducing the stickiness of red blood cells and platelets, which improves circulation, particularly in the brain, heart, and skeletal muscles.

In older dogs, reduced blood flow and oxygen supply can contribute to fatigue, slower movement, and reduced interest in surroundings. By promoting better perfusion, Vivitonin helps these dogs maintain energy, cognitive function, and general responsiveness.

Additionally, propentofylline has mild bronchodilatory effects, which can support respiratory function, and it may reduce free radical damage by improving antioxidant activity within the body. While not a cure for ageing, it can significantly improve the quality of life in senior dogs displaying signs of cognitive decline or disinterest.

Zycortal for Dogs

Zycortal for Dogs - 4ml

Zycortal for Dogs is a veterinary prescription medicine used to treat Addison’s disease (hypoadrenocorticism) in dogs. This injectable suspension is designed to help maintain electrolyte balance and prevent the life-threatening symptoms associated with this condition. It contains desoxycortone pivalate (DOCP), a synthetic mineralocorticoid that supports adrenal function by regulating sodium, potassium, and water levels in the body.

Addison’s disease occurs when a dog’s adrenal glands do not produce enough corticosteroid hormones, which are essential for various physiological functions. Without proper treatment, affected dogs may experience lethargy, vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, and in severe cases, collapse. Zycortal is used in combination with glucocorticoid therapy to provide long-term management of the condition, helping to stabilise a dog’s health and improve their quality of life.

How Zycortal Works

Zycortal contains desoxycortone pivalate (DOCP), which mimics the action of natural mineralocorticoid hormones that are normally produced by the adrenal glands. These hormones play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of electrolytes and fluids in the body. When a dog has Addison’s disease, their body fails to produce sufficient levels of aldosterone, a hormone responsible for regulating sodium and potassium levels. This imbalance can lead to serious complications, including dehydration, low blood pressure, and shock.

Once administered by a veterinarian as a subcutaneous injection, Zycortal helps to normalise sodium and potassium levels, reducing the risk of dangerous fluctuations. The active ingredient works over an extended period, typically requiring re-administration every 25 to 30 days. Since Zycortal only replaces mineralocorticoid function, dogs undergoing treatment will also need additional glucocorticoid therapy, such as prednisolone, to replace the deficient cortisol levels.

Senvelgo for Cats with Diabetes - 30ml

Senvelgo for Cats with Diabetes - 30ml

Senvelgo for Cats: The New Treatment for Feline Diabetes

Senvelgo for Cats is an oral solution designed to manage diabetes mellitus in cats. Formulated with velagliflozin, Senvelgo offers a targeted solution for maintaining glycaemic control, providing cat owners a streamlined and effective approach to caring for feline diabetes. This product is specifically indicated for cats who are newly diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and have not been previously treated with insulin.

Senvelgo’s daily oral administration is convenient for pet owners, available either by direct oral application or through a small amount of wet food. With careful weight-based dosing, Senvelgo allows precise control over the medication quantity administered. Additionally, it does not require refrigeration, making it a practical choice for pet care.

How Senvelgo Works

Senvelgo works by reducing high blood glucose levels, or hyperglycaemia, in cats with diabetes mellitus. The active ingredient, velagliflozin, is classified as a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It targets the kidney's function of glucose reabsorption, promoting the excretion of excess glucose through urine. By facilitating this process, Senvelgo helps to regulate blood glucose levels without relying on insulin injections, making it an alternative to insulin for cats not previously treated with insulin.

The action of Senvelgo is typically well-tolerated, leading to visible improvements in glycaemic control in some cats as early as the first week of treatment. This control minimises the risk of common symptoms associated with untreated or poorly managed diabetes in cats, such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, and weight loss. Moreover, the solution has a low risk of causing hypoglycaemia, a condition of dangerously low blood sugar levels, which is a concern with some diabetic treatments.
