Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs - Pack of 4
Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs helps tackle dandruff, a dull coat, dry or greasy skin and persistent coat odour. Its plant-based oils provide omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids for the skin barrier, with a blend of essential oils to help regulate surface oiliness and improve coat condition.
Applied between the shoulders, the formula spreads over the skin without massage or rinsing. Each pack contains four pipettes, with different sizes for small, medium and large dogs. Weekly applications during the initial care period offer a convenient way to moisturise the skin and restore coat shine between baths.
Additional Product Information
Description
Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs is a moisturising skin and coat preparation for dogs with dandruff, excess oiliness, dry skin, an unpleasant coat odour or a lack of shine. It delivers plant-derived fatty acids and essential oils directly to the skin through a single pipette application. Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs helps strengthen the surface barrier, reduce flaking and improve the appearance of the coat without a full bath. The four-pipette packs are available in different volumes for different bodyweights: 0.6ml for dogs in the 0–10kg range, 1.2ml for the 10–20kg range and 2.4ml for the 20–40kg range. The appropriate weight-band presentation provides a complete application, with weekly use during the initial care period and fortnightly maintenance afterwards.
Dryness and greasiness can both develop when normal skin turnover and surface lipid balance are disturbed. Skin cells are continually renewed, with older cells shed from the outer layer. When shedding becomes more visible, flakes collect in the coat and may be especially noticeable against dark hair. Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs helps reduce this flaking while improving hydration. Sebum, the oil produced by sebaceous glands, normally lubricates hair and contributes to the protective film over the skin. Excessive oiliness can leave hair feeling heavy or sticky and contribute to an unpleasant smell. Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs helps regulate these surface changes, providing care for both dry and greasy coats. The clinical term seborrhoea describes abnormal scaling, sometimes accompanied by excessive oiliness, rather than one single underlying disease.
The skin’s barrier relies on lipids between the cells of its outermost layer, the stratum corneum. These lipids help keep moisture within the skin and reduce penetration by external irritants. Vegetable oil in Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs supplies omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids to help maintain this protective structure. The formula also provides antioxidant care, helping protect the skin surface against oxidative stress. Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs contains a blend of rosemary, lavandin, clove, tea tree, ravintsara, peppermint, cedar, turmeric, oregano and wintergreen oils. Their combined use contributes to the product’s sebum-regulating, anti-dandruff and deodorising properties. The finished preparation is designed for animal skin; adding extra essential oils or replacing it with concentrated household oils would change its composition and suitability.
A healthier skin surface can improve the way the coat looks and feels, with better shine and less visible scale. Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs also helps reduce excessive hair loss outside the normal seasonal moult and encourages hair regrowth. Normal shedding continues as old hairs are replaced during the coat’s natural growth cycle. This product can be particularly useful when frequent bathing is difficult, or when a dog needs additional moisturising care between washes. Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs is left on the skin, so its ingredients remain in contact without being rinsed away after a short wash. Grooming still helps remove loose coat and surface debris, particularly where a dense undercoat traps shed hairs close to the skin. Persistent redness, sores, marked itching or a strong new smell can indicate inflammation or infection requiring more than routine moisturising and deodorising care.
Apply Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs directly to the skin between the shoulders, parting the coat and distributing the contents over one or two spots. The formula spreads with the help of natural sebum, so there is no need to massage it in or cover every affected-looking area separately. Allow Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs to absorb and prevent licking of the fresh application. Avoid bathing for two days before and two days after use to preserve the skin oils involved in distribution. For a long or dense coat, brush the application area after 24 hours if residue remains on the hair. Each pipette is intended to be used completely at one application, rather than opened and stored for later portions.
Use Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs once weekly for the first two months, then every two weeks for maintenance. Four pipettes provide four initial weekly applications or approximately eight weeks of fortnightly use when one pipette is appropriate for the dog’s weight. Dogs over 40kg require a combination of pipette sizes according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs can be used alongside a separate flea treatment, with the products applied on different days and at different sites; it does not itself kill fleas or ticks. The manufacturer does not recommend the range during pregnancy or lactation. For healthy puppies without a particular skin problem, it recommends waiting until six months of age before beginning routine use.
What is Essential 6 Spot On for Dogs used for?
Essential 6 helps improve dry or greasy skin, dandruff, unpleasant coat odour and a dull coat. Its fatty acids contribute to skin hydration and barrier health, while its essential-oil blend helps regulate the surface. It is a leave-on skin-care product applied from a pipette.
Which Essential 6 pack does my dog need?
The dog range has three labelled weight bands: 0–10kg with 0.6ml pipettes, 10–20kg with 1.2ml pipettes and 20–40kg with 2.4ml pipettes. Each pack contains four. Select the presentation using your dog’s current weight and the supplied pack directions, particularly at a weight-band boundary.
How often should Essential 6 be applied to dogs?
Use one appropriate-sized pipette weekly for two months, then one every two weeks for maintenance. The four-pipette pack provides four initial weekly applications or approximately eight weeks at the maintenance frequency. Dogs over 40kg need a combination of pipette sizes according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Where do I put Essential 6 Spot On on my dog?
Part the hair between the shoulders and apply the contents directly to the skin over one or two spots. There is no need to massage the liquid through the coat. Natural sebum helps distribute the formula, and the application should be allowed to absorb without licking.
Can Essential 6 help a dog’s greasy coat and smell?
Yes. The formulation is designed to help regulate excess surface oiliness and reduce unpleasant coat odour while improving skin condition. Persistent redness, discharge or a strong new smell can indicate another problem, such as infection, so those changes need more than repeated deodorising applications.
How long should I wait before bathing a dog after Essential 6?
Avoid bathing for 48 hours after application, and also for 48 hours beforehand. The product spreads using the natural oily film on the skin, which shampooing can remove. It can be used between baths, with no need to rinse the product off after application.
What our customers say about us.
I have used Vetdispense for my elderly springer spaniels medication for a number of years. Our vets were charging double the price as medication had to be stored in refrigerators. I get a prescription from my vets and send a copy with my order and it has always been processed and despatched promptly. I use an app on my mobile and can keep track of the order. If there have ever been any queries you can call and speak to someone (a rare and much appreciated thing these days). I highly recommend their service.
