Aurizon Ear Drops - 10ml
Aurizon Ear Drops 10ml combine an antibiotic, an antifungal and an anti-inflammatory medicine to treat susceptible bacterial and fungal ear infections in dogs. Marbofloxacin and clotrimazole act against the organisms involved, while dexamethasone helps reduce inflammation and itching inside the ear canal.
Aurizon liquid reaches the affected ear directly, making it useful for otitis externa associated with redness, soreness, discharge and persistent head shaking. Supplied in a 10ml bottle with an applicator, Aurizon provides once-daily local treatment that addresses both infection and the inflammatory discomfort that can make an affected ear so troublesome for your dog.

Additional Product Information
Description
Aurizon Ear Drops are a combined ear treatment for dogs with otitis externa caused by susceptible bacteria and fungi. Otitis externa means inflammation of the external ear canal, the passage between the visible ear opening and the eardrum. Infection in this area can cause considerable discomfort, with head shaking, scratching and reluctance to have the ear touched. The 10ml bottle contains three active ingredients: marbofloxacin, clotrimazole and dexamethasone. Together, they address bacterial infection, fungal infection and inflammation at the site where treatment is needed. Aurizon Ear Drops are applied directly into the affected ear, allowing the medicine to spread through the external canal. This combination is particularly useful when microbial overgrowth and an inflamed, itchy ear occur together, rather than as isolated problems requiring unrelated approaches.
The ear canal has its own normal population of micro-organisms, but changes in its environment can allow some of them to multiply excessively. Moisture, allergic skin disease and the shape of an individual dog's ears can all contribute to recurring trouble. An affected ear may look red, produce more wax or develop an unpleasant smell. Discharge can vary in colour and consistency, and the dog may tilt or shake its head because the canal feels uncomfortable. Aurizon Ear Drops treat infections involving organisms sensitive to the active ingredients. The antifungal component is particularly relevant to Malassezia pachydermatis, a yeast commonly involved in canine ear disease. Aurizon Ear Drops also reduce the associated inflammation, which can otherwise make the canal swollen and sensitive even when relatively little discharge is visible.
Each millilitre of Aurizon Ear Drops contains 3mg of marbofloxacin, 10mg of clotrimazole and dexamethasone acetate equivalent to 0.9mg of dexamethasone. Marbofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that interferes with bacterial DNA processes, preventing susceptible bacteria from functioning and multiplying normally. Clotrimazole acts on the membranes of susceptible fungi, including yeasts, to disrupt their normal structure and activity. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces the inflammatory response responsible for redness, swelling and itching. Aurizon Ear Drops therefore have three distinct actions within one bottle. Reducing inflammation can improve comfort while the antimicrobial ingredients deal with the infection. The choice of antibiotic is based on the organisms involved and their susceptibility; this is particularly relevant to ears that have experienced repeated infections or responded poorly to earlier treatment.
Aurizon Ear Drops are used once daily, with the licensed directions specifying ten drops into the affected ear for seven to fourteen days. Whether treatment continues into the second week depends on the response assessed after the first seven days. The bottle should be shaken well before each use so that the suspension is evenly mixed. A clean, dry ear canal allows the drops to contact the affected surface more effectively. After application, gentle massage at the base of the ear helps distribute the liquid through the canal. Aurizon Ear Drops are supplied with an applicator designed for ear administration. The drops are intended for the external ear canal rather than simply the visible flap, where applying a little liquid alone would not reach the main area involved in otitis externa.
Comfort and appearance may improve at different rates during treatment. A dog may shake its head less while wax and discharge still take time to clear, particularly after a more established episode. Aurizon Ear Drops address the susceptible infection and inflammation present during that episode, while any underlying tendency towards ear disease remains a separate consideration. For example, dogs with allergic skin disease can experience ear flare-ups even when the rest of the coat appears relatively normal. Ongoing ear care can therefore differ from the short course used to settle an active infection. Aurizon Ear Drops are a medicine rather than an everyday ear-cleaning liquid. Routine cleaning products have a different purpose, and persistent odour or repeated discharge is not simply a sign that an ear needs more frequent washing.
Aurizon Ear Drops are for dogs and must not be used where the eardrum is perforated. They are also unsuitable during pregnancy or lactation. Rare cases of hearing loss have been reported, particularly in older dogs, and this has usually been transient. A new loss of hearing or a marked deterioration in comfort during use needs prompt veterinary attention. Because this product contains a corticosteroid, prolonged use carries different considerations from a short course of ear treatment. Aurizon Ear Drops should be kept below 30°C and used within two months of first opening. Closing the bottle after use helps protect the remaining suspension and keeps the applicator ready for the next administration. The 10ml presentation provides the same combination of active ingredients as larger bottles in the Aurizon range.
What are Aurizon Ear Drops used for?
Aurizon treats external ear infections in dogs involving susceptible bacteria and fungi. It combines marbofloxacin, clotrimazole and dexamethasone to address bacterial infection, fungal infection and inflammation. This makes it useful when an infected ear is also red, swollen, itchy or painful.
Do Aurizon Ear Drops treat yeast infections?
Aurizon contains clotrimazole, an antifungal ingredient active against susceptible yeasts, including Malassezia pachydermatis. This yeast commonly contributes to canine ear disease. The product also contains an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory ingredient, so its use depends on the overall type of ear infection present.
How often are Aurizon Ear Drops given?
The licensed directions specify ten drops into the affected ear once daily for seven to fourteen days. The need to continue into a second week is assessed after seven days. Shake the bottle well before use and gently massage the ear base after application.
What does the steroid in Aurizon do?
Dexamethasone is the corticosteroid ingredient in Aurizon. It reduces the inflammatory response responsible for swelling, redness and itching in the external ear canal. The antibiotic and antifungal ingredients act against susceptible organisms, while dexamethasone helps relieve the associated inflammatory discomfort during treatment.
How long does Aurizon last after opening?
An opened bottle of Aurizon has a two-month in-use shelf life. Store it below 30°C and keep the bottle closed between applications. The 10ml size contains the same active-ingredient combination as the larger presentations, but any remaining product still has the same opening limit.
