Description

Sensiderm Balm provides moisturising care for dry noses, rough paw pads and callused skin in dogs and cats. Its fragrance-free formula softens areas that have become hard or flaky, helping restore a more supple surface. Unlike a wash-off product, the balm remains on the skin after application, allowing its moisturising and emollient ingredients to work where they are needed. Sensiderm Balm is particularly useful for localised dryness, including the thickened surface associated with nasal hyperkeratosis. The non-greasy texture makes it suitable for small areas such as the nose and pads, where a little product can be spread into an even layer. Urea, glycerin and shea butter are combined with soothing ingredients to provide daily care without an added perfume.

The nose and paw pads have a specialised outer surface that helps them withstand contact with the environment. Keratin, a structural protein in this surface, contributes to its toughness. When keratin builds up excessively, the skin can become thick, rough and crusty, a change known as hyperkeratosis. On the nose, this may produce raised, dry ridges rather than the usual smoother texture. On the pads, dry skin may feel hard and less flexible. Moisturising helps improve their suppleness while preserving the naturally tough surface that bears weight and comes into contact with the ground during everyday activity. Sensiderm Balm helps moisturise and soften these changes so that the surface becomes easier to keep in good condition. Sensiderm Balm can also be applied to calluses, where repeated pressure has produced a patch of thicker skin, often over a bony area such as an elbow.

Urea and glycerin are important moisture-binding ingredients in Sensiderm Balm. They act as humectants, helping the outer skin hold water and reducing the dry, rigid feel that develops when it loses moisture. Urea also helps soften a rough keratinised surface, making it a useful ingredient for skin that is both dry and thickened. This combination addresses the texture of the affected area as well as its hydration. Sensiderm Balm is intended for regular, gentle application rather than forceful removal of crusts. Softening gradually is more comfortable than pulling or picking at attached flakes, which can expose sensitive skin underneath. A thin, even covering brings the formula into contact with the rough surface while allowing the balm to be distributed carefully.

Shea butter and other emollient ingredients in Sensiderm Balm help smooth and soften the skin. Emollients improve the feel of dry areas and complement the water-binding action of the humectants. The formula also contains panthenol, allantoin and Centella asiatica extract, ingredients used in soothing skin-care preparations. Acacia gum contributes to the formulation, alongside fatty ingredients that help it spread across the surface. Sensiderm Balm brings these components together in a non-greasy texture, so the product can be worked over the nose, pads or a callused patch without leaving a heavy oily coating. Its fragrance-free formulation is a useful feature for pets receiving frequent local skin care, particularly around the nose, where a strongly perfumed product would be an unnecessary addition.

Apply Sensiderm Balm in a thin, even layer once daily, or at the frequency recommended for the individual animal. Remove the tamper-evident tab before the first use. The product does not need to be rinsed away. On the nose, spread it over the dry outer surface while avoiding the eyes and nostril openings. On the feet, separate the toes gently so that the pads can be reached without pulling the surrounding hair. Sensiderm Balm can be applied when the pet is settled, making it easier to cover the intended area calmly. Check the surface for grit or other debris before application and handle rough skin gently. Crusts should be allowed to soften rather than being scraped off, especially if the skin underneath looks tender.

Sensiderm Balm is suitable for cats and dogs, including puppies and kittens, and the 50ml tube is designed for local application. A dry nose on its own does not establish that a pet is unwell, but persistent thickening, discomfort or cracking can benefit from a closer assessment of the cause. Moisturising care helps improve surface condition; deep fissures, bleeding or painful lesions need more than a cosmetic approach. Sensiderm Balm can remain useful for ongoing dryness once the appropriate care has been established. Paw care also benefits from removing mud or grit after walks and providing a comfortable resting surface for animals prone to pressure calluses. Avoid using a moisturising balm as a substitute for protection from hot ground, sharp surfaces or other sources of direct injury.

What is Sensiderm Balm used for?

Sensiderm Balm moisturises and softens dry noses, rough paw pads and callused skin in dogs and cats. It is useful for localised areas that feel hard, flaky or thickened, including nasal hyperkeratosis. The balm stays on the surface after application and does not need rinsing.

Can Sensiderm Balm help a dog’s crusty nose?

Sensiderm Balm can help soften dryness and thickened keratin on the nose. Urea, glycerin and emollient ingredients improve moisture and surface suppleness. Crusting that is painful, bleeding or associated with sores needs its cause assessed, because moisturising alone may not address the underlying skin problem.

What is nasal hyperkeratosis in dogs?

Nasal hyperkeratosis is an excessive build-up of keratin on the outer nose, producing a rough, dry or crusted surface. Keratin normally helps protect the skin, but too much can make it thick and rigid. Moisturising preparations such as Sensiderm Balm help soften the affected surface.

How often should I use Sensiderm Balm?

The manufacturer recommends applying a thin, even layer once daily, or at a frequency suited to the individual animal. Remove the tamper-evident tab before first use. Spread the balm gently over the dry area and leave it in place; there is no rinse-off stage.

Is Sensiderm Balm suitable for cats?

Yes. Sensiderm Balm is intended for cats as well as dogs, including young animals. It can be used on dry noses, paw pads and callused areas. Apply a thin layer only to the intended surface, keeping the product away from the eyes and nostril openings.

Can I use Sensiderm Balm on rough paw pads?

Yes. Dry or rough paw pads are among the intended areas of use. The balm helps improve hydration and suppleness, particularly where the surface feels hard or flaky. It does not provide protection against hot pavements or sharp objects, and deep cracks or injuries need separate attention.
