Frontline Flea Spot On for Dogs 3 pipettes of 1.34 ml - Medium Dog 10-20KG

£25.39 (tax incl.)

Frontline Spot On Medium Dog contains three 1.34ml pipettes for dogs weighing over 10kg and up to 20kg. Its active ingredient, fipronil, kills adult fleas, ticks and biting lice through contact with the treated skin and coat. Each ready-to-use pipette provides one application, with no tablet to give or collar to fit.

Fleas can cause persistent scratching and skin irritation, while ticks attach during walks and outdoor activity. This standard Frontline Spot On formulation offers straightforward topical parasite treatment in a three-pipette pack, helping tackle infestations and reduce the discomfort caused by these common external parasites.

Description

Frontline Spot On Medium Dog is a topical flea, tick and biting-louse treatment for dogs weighing over 10kg and up to 20kg. This pack contains three individual pipettes, each holding 1.34ml of solution and 134mg of fipronil. One pipette provides one application for a dog within this weight band. The solution is placed directly onto the skin and spreads across the body surface, bringing the active ingredient into contact with parasites on the animal. Frontline Spot On Medium Dog is the standard fipronil formulation, supplied in a familiar ready-to-use format. It can be useful when an external treatment is preferred to a tablet. There is no daily medicine to give, and each sealed pipette keeps an individual application separate until it is required.

Fleas cause irritation when they feed, and repeated bites can lead to scratching, nibbling at the coat and broken areas of skin. Some dogs develop flea allergy dermatitis, an exaggerated reaction to flea saliva that can make even a small infestation intensely itchy. Flea dirt may appear as dark specks close to the skin, especially around the lower back and base of the tail. Frontline Spot On Medium Dog kills adult fleas on the treated animal and helps control new infestations during its stated period of activity. Visible fleas represent only part of the problem, because immature stages develop in the surroundings. Frontline Spot On Medium Dog treats the dog, while cleaning bedding and thoroughly vacuuming resting areas helps reduce the environmental reservoir that can continue producing new adult fleas.

Fipronil, the active ingredient in Frontline Spot On Medium Dog, disrupts the nervous system of susceptible parasites. It interferes with chloride channels involved in nerve signalling, causing uncontrolled nervous activity and parasite death. After application, the medicine distributes over the skin and coat rather than needing to be swallowed. Newly arriving fleas are killed within 24 hours of landing on the treated animal, while susceptible ticks and biting lice are killed within 48 hours of exposure. Frontline Spot On Medium Dog is not a repellent, so ticks may still attach before they are killed. That distinction is useful for dogs walking through long grass, woodland or other areas where ticks occur. Checking the coat after such walks remains worthwhile because tick treatment cannot completely remove the possibility of disease transmission.

The current product information for Frontline Spot On Medium Dog specifies persistent activity against new adult flea infestations for four weeks and against ticks for up to two weeks. These are different protection periods, so three pipettes should not be described as providing three months of uninterrupted tick protection. The minimum interval between applications is four weeks. Parasite exposure varies with a dog's surroundings, travel and outdoor habits, which can affect the most suitable treatment plan. Frontline Spot On Medium Dog contains fipronil alone; it is distinct from Frontline Plus, which also includes an ingredient acting on flea development. Where an established household infestation is present, newly emerged fleas may continue to appear for a time even after the dog has been treated. Their appearance does not mean every flea has survived the application.

To apply Frontline Spot On Medium Dog, part the coat between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the pipette tip against the skin and empty the contents at the recommended points, with the product information favouring one point at the base of the skull and another a little further back. Applying the liquid onto exposed skin helps avoid leaving most of it on the hair. The application site should be allowed to dry before the dog is handled closely. Frontline Spot On Medium Dog should not be followed by bathing or immersion in water for two days, and dogs must also stay out of watercourses during this period. Frequent bathing can affect the treatment's performance. A temporary sticky appearance at the application area may occur and usually disappears within 24 hours.

Frontline Spot On Medium Dog is specifically for dogs within the stated weight range, and the entire pipette is used for one application. A dog weighing exactly 10kg falls within the smaller dog's licensed weight band. This product must not be used in rabbits or other non-target species, or on sick or convalescent animals. The wider dog range is unsuitable for puppies under eight weeks old or animals under 2kg. Frontline Spot On Medium Dog should not be applied simultaneously with another flea product used directly on the animal. Very rare reactions include local skin irritation, vomiting or unusual behaviour. Store unused pipettes in the original packaging, in a dry place below 25°C, and keep the remaining applications sealed until they are needed.

Which dogs is Frontline Medium Dog suitable for?

This presentation is for dogs weighing over 10kg and up to 20kg. Each 1.34ml pipette provides one application for that weight band. A dog weighing exactly 10kg falls within the smaller presentation’s range. The pack contains three separately sealed pipettes for three individual applications.

What does Frontline Spot On Medium Dog kill?

The standard Frontline Spot On formulation kills adult fleas, susceptible ticks and biting lice. Its active ingredient is fipronil, which acts on the parasites’ nervous systems. It spreads across the treated dog’s skin and coat after application, bringing the medicine into contact with external parasites.

How long does Frontline protect a medium dog?

The current product information specifies persistent activity for four weeks against new adult flea infestations and up to two weeks against ticks. These periods differ from some older descriptions. Applications must be at least four weeks apart, so shorter tick protection should not lead to more frequent dosing.

How quickly does Frontline kill fleas and ticks?

Newly arriving fleas are killed within 24 hours of landing on the treated dog. Susceptible ticks and biting lice are killed within 48 hours of exposure. Frontline is not a tick repellent, so individual ticks may still attach before they are killed by the treatment.

Can my dog swim after Frontline Spot On?

Keep dogs out of watercourses for two days after application. Bathing or immersion should also be avoided during those two days, and frequent bathing can affect efficacy. The application area must dry before close handling, including children playing with or touching the treated dog.

Why can I still see fleas after using Frontline?

Immature flea stages can remain in carpets, bedding and resting areas, then develop into new adults after the dog has been treated. This can produce continuing sightings during an established infestation. Washing bedding and thorough vacuuming help reduce the environmental source alongside suitable treatment of household animals.
