Protexin Fibreplex for Rabbits - 15ml
Protexin Fibreplex is a carrot-flavoured, high-fibre paste for rabbits, supplied in a graduated 15ml syringe. It combines fibre, prebiotics and the live yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae to help maintain normal digestive function. Give it according to the label and your vet's advice.
Fibreplex is not a complete food or a substitute for urgent care: a rabbit that stops eating or produces fewer droppings needs prompt veterinary assessment.
Additional Product Information
Description
Protexin Fibreplex is a high-fibre digestive paste for rabbits. Supplied in a 15ml syringe, it offers a measured way to provide fibre together with prebiotic and probiotic ingredients. The artificial carrot flavour is intended to help acceptance. It may be included in a veterinary plan when additional digestive care is appropriate, but it should not be treated as a complete feed or a way to postpone assessment of a rabbit that is unwell.
The current formula contains the live yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-4407. Its Preplex prebiotic blend includes oligofructose and acacia, while inulin contributes fibre. These components have different roles within the digestive formulation. The probiotic is a specified live yeast, so the ingredient description should not be copied from a dog or cat product that contains a different organism. Keep the pack available when discussing use alongside other products or treatments with your vet.
The manufacturer describes administration of 1ml per kilogram of body weight by mouth, three times daily for two to three days, or as advised by a veterinary surgeon. Follow the current label and your rabbit's individual plan. The syringe has a dosing wheel that limits how much paste is dispensed. Check its position carefully before administration and ask the veterinary team to demonstrate if you are unfamiliar with the device. Do not estimate body weight by appearance when a measured weight is available.
The paste can also be mixed with food according to the manufacturer, provided the intended portion is consumed. If direct administration is recommended, use the handling technique shown by your vet and do not force paste rapidly into the mouth. A rabbit that cannot swallow normally, is very weak or is struggling to breathe needs immediate professional attention. Clean and dry the syringe nozzle after use, replace the cap and follow the storage instructions so the remaining paste stays suitable for use.
Long fibre and an appropriate diet remain central to rabbit care. Fibreplex does not replace access to suitable hay or grass, fresh water and the balanced feeding routine recommended for your rabbit. Sudden dietary changes can make it harder to interpret digestive signs, so discuss any planned adjustments with your vet. Dental discomfort, pain and other illness can affect eating and droppings, and those causes need attention even if a digestive supplement has been started.
Monitor food intake, activity and droppings closely. A reduction in eating or faecal output is not a reason to wait several days for a paste to work. Contact your vet promptly, especially if the rabbit appears uncomfortable, bloated or lethargic. If several people share care, record the amount and time of each administration to avoid duplication. Follow up as advised so that any change in appetite, weight or bowel function can be considered within the whole treatment plan.
What is Fibreplex?
It is a high-fibre digestive paste for rabbits, supplied in a graduated 15ml syringe. The formula contains fibre, prebiotics and a live yeast probiotic. It can be included in a veterinary care plan, but it is not a complete food or a replacement for assessment of illness.
Which probiotic does it contain?
The manufacturer information identifies Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-4407, a live yeast. This differs from organisms used in some dog and cat products. Check the current pack when discussing the formula with your vet, particularly if several digestive supplements are being considered.
What flavour is Fibreplex?
The paste has an artificial carrot flavour intended to improve acceptance. Palatability does not mean every rabbit will willingly take it. If administration is difficult, ask your vet about technique or whether mixing the prescribed amount with a small food portion is appropriate.
How is the amount measured?
The syringe has a dosing wheel that controls the amount dispensed. Set it according to the current label and your vet's instructions before giving the paste. Ask for a demonstration if necessary, and use the rabbit's measured body weight rather than an estimate by appearance.
What are the manufacturer's directions?
The manufacturer describes 1ml per kilogram by mouth three times daily for two to three days, or as advised by a vet. Follow the current label and individual plan. Do not wait for that period to finish if the rabbit is eating less or producing fewer droppings.
Can the paste be mixed with food?
The manufacturer allows it to be mixed with food. Use a portion you can check has been consumed and follow your vet's advice. If the rabbit is not eating, contact the practice promptly rather than assuming that leaving treated food available will deliver the required amount.
Does Fibreplex replace hay?
No. It is a supplement and not a replacement for suitable long-fibre foods or a balanced rabbit diet. Keep appropriate hay or grass and fresh water available as advised. Your vet can explain how the paste fits around normal feeding and any other treatment.

I've used Vet Dispense a few times now for my cat's medication needs and this most recent time was fantastic. Not only did i get a reply to an email within about 15 minutes of me sending it, but once ordered, the medication came in the post the next day which was truly appreciated. They are good!
