Isaderm for Dogs
Isaderm for Dogs is a topical gel used to treat localised bacterial skin infections and inflammatory skin conditions. It is commonly prescribed for surface pyoderma, including acute moist dermatitis and intertrigo. These conditions often cause redness, soreness, discharge and persistent irritation, particularly in areas where the skin is damaged or folded.
Isaderm is applied directly to the affected area, allowing targeted treatment where it is needed. This makes it suitable for dogs with small, defined patches of inflamed or infected skin rather than widespread disease.
How Isaderm Works
Isaderm contains two active components that work together to manage infection and inflammation at the skin surface. One component is an antibiotic that acts against susceptible bacteria commonly involved in canine skin infections. By limiting bacterial growth, it helps reduce infection and supports the skin’s ability to recover.
The second component is a corticosteroid. This reduces inflammation by suppressing the local immune response in the skin. In inflamed skin, blood vessels become dilated and fluid leaks into surrounding tissues, causing redness, swelling and discomfort. The anti-inflammatory action helps calm this response, reducing heat, itching and soreness.
When used as directed, Isaderm helps control infection while also relieving inflammation. This combination is particularly useful where bacterial infection and irritation occur together, which is common in dermatitis and intertrigo.
