Vidalta 15mg Tablet for Cats - per Tablet

Vidalta 15mg Tablet for Cats - per Tablet

Vidalta 15mg is a prescription-only veterinary medicine used to treat hyperthyroidism in cats. Each modified-release tablet contains 15 milligrams of the active substance carbimazole. The treatment is designed to control the overproduction of thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland, helping to manage the symptoms of hyperthyroidism and improve your cat’s overall health and wellbeing.

What is Hyperthyroidism in Cats?

Hyperthyroidism is a common endocrine disorder affecting middle-aged and older cats. It occurs when the thyroid gland, located in the neck, becomes overactive and produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormones, particularly thyroxine (T4). These hormones regulate the body’s metabolism, so when their levels are too high, the cat’s metabolism speeds up significantly.

The condition is usually caused by a benign tumour on the thyroid gland, known as an adenoma. In rare cases, it can be caused by a malignant tumour. As the disease progresses, it places strain on the heart, liver, kidneys, and other vital organs. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are crucial to managing the condition effectively.

40mg Libeo Tablets For Dogs - per Tablet

40mg Libeo Tablets For Dogs - per Tablet

40mg Libeo is a prescription-only chewable tablet for dogs. Each tablet contains 40mg of furosemide, a diuretic (water tablet) that helps the body remove excess fluid. Libeo is used to treat oedema (fluid in tissues) and ascites (fluid in the abdomen), particularly when these problems are linked to cardiac insufficiency or congestive heart failure in dogs. Your veterinary surgeon will decide whether Libeo is suitable and will prescribe a dose for your dog’s weight and clinical needs.

Heart failure means your dog's heart is not pumping as effectively as it should. When circulation becomes less efficient, pressure can rise in blood vessels and the body can activate hormone systems that conserve salt and water. The aim is to support circulation, but the side effect can be fluid retention. Extra fluid can then leak from blood vessels and collect in places where it causes symptoms. Fluid may build up in the lungs (leading to coughing or fast, effortful breathing), in the abdomen (ascites), or in tissues (oedema). Reducing this excess fluid can ease breathing, improve comfort, and help dogs tolerate gentle activity.

How 40mg Libeo works

Furosemide is a loop diuretic. It acts in the kidneys, where it reduces the reabsorption of sodium and chloride. Water follows salt, so more water stays in the urine and is passed out of the body. As urine output increases, the volume of fluid in the bloodstream falls. This helps reduce congestion and encourages excess fluid in the lungs, abdomen, or tissues to move back into the circulation so it can be removed. Because furosemide affects salt and water balance, it can also alter electrolytes such as potassium and sodium, so dosing and monitoring matter.

When Libeo may be prescribed

Libeo is commonly used when a dog has signs of fluid retention linked to heart disease. Your vet may prescribe it if your dog has abdominal fluid, visible swelling, or congestion affecting breathing. Libeo is often used alongside other heart medicines, such as pimobendan and ACE inhibitors, depending on the type and stage of heart disease. In some dogs, Libeo is used short term to bring fluid under control. In other dogs, it forms part of longer-term management, with the dose reviewed over time.

Bisolvon Sachet - 1 x 5g Sachet

Bisolvon Sachet - 1 x 5g Sachet

Bisolvon is a prescription medication used to help clear excessive mucus in animals experiencing respiratory difficulties. Each sachet contains bromhexine hydrochloride, a mucolytic agent that works by breaking down thick mucus, making it easier for the animal to clear its airways.

Bisolvon is commonly prescribed for dogs, cats, and horses suffering from respiratory conditions that cause excessive mucus production. By reducing mucus viscosity, the medication improves breathing and supports the animal’s ability to expel trapped secretions from the lungs.

How Bisolvon Works

Bisolvon contains bromhexine hydrochloride, a mucolytic drug that targets thick and sticky mucus in the respiratory system. In conditions such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and other respiratory infections, the body produces excess mucus, which can obstruct the airways and make breathing difficult.

Bromhexine hydrochloride works by altering the structure of mucus, reducing its thickness and stickiness. This allows the animal to clear the mucus more effectively through coughing or normal respiratory processes. By improving mucus clearance, Bisolvon helps maintain clear airways and supports better lung function.

Bisolvon also enhances the penetration of antibiotics into respiratory secretions, making it useful as part of a broader treatment plan for bacterial infections affecting the respiratory tract.

20mg Galliprant Tablets for Dogs - Per Tablet

20mg Galliprant Tablets for Dogs - Per Tablet

20mg Galliprant (grapiprant) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) designed specifically for the treatment of osteoarthritis in dogs. It provides targeted relief from pain and inflammation, helping dogs maintain mobility and quality of life. Galliprant 20mg works differently from traditional NSAIDs, making it a safer option for long-term use in managing osteoarthritis symptoms.

Each tablet contains 20mg of grapiprant, a selective prostaglandin receptor antagonist (PRA). It is available in different strengths to suit various dog sizes and is administered once daily with or without food. Galliprant is a prescription-only medication and should only be used under veterinary supervision.

How Galliprant Works

Galliprant works by blocking the EP4 receptor, which is primarily responsible for pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. Unlike traditional NSAIDs, which inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, Galliprant specifically targets this receptor without affecting other prostaglandins that support normal bodily functions.

This selective action reduces the risk of gastrointestinal, kidney, and liver side effects that are commonly associated with other NSAIDs. Because it works at the root of inflammation rather than through broad suppression, Galliprant provides effective pain relief while maintaining overall health and well-being.

6.4mg Zenrelia for Dogs - Per Tablet

6.4mg Zenrelia for Dogs - Per Tablet

6.4mg Zenrelia is a once-daily, orally administered tablet containing ilunocitinib, a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor indicated for dogs from 12 months of age and weighing at least 3kg. It is formulated as a small, unflavoured film-coated tablet designed for ease of administration with or without food, with consistent dosing recommended at the same time each day.

Zenrelia works by inhibiting Janus kinase pathways involved in the inflammatory and pruritic signalling cascade. By targeting these pathways, Zenrelia reduces the biochemical processes that result in the characteristic itch and inflammation of allergic and atopic dermatitis. Following oral administration, it is rapidly absorbed, with visible improvements often appearing within 24 hours. While some dogs respond immediately, a full assessment of response should wait at least one week, with most showing notable improvement in itch and skin condition by two to four weeks.

Zenrelia 6.4mg is appropriate for use from the first veterinary consultation through diagnostic work-up and into long-term maintenance. Its simple, once-daily dosing implies that caregivers can begin treatment before a full diagnosis of atopic dermatitis, helping manage symptoms while underlying causes are explored and addressed.

2.5mg Fortekor Palatable Tablet for Cats and Dogs - per Tablet

2.5mg Fortekor Palatable Tablet for Cats and Dogs - per Tablet

2.5mg Fortekor Flavour is a veterinary medication formulated for the treatment of heart failure in dogs and chronic renal insufficiency in cats. The active ingredient in Fortekor, benazepril, is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that plays a vital role in managing these health conditions. With its flavoured formulation, Fortekor makes it easier for pet owners to administer the medication to their pets, ensuring better compliance and more effective treatment outcomes.

Fortekor's primary action comes from its active ingredient, benazepril, which functions as an ACE inhibitor. In cases of heart failure in dogs, Fortekor helps improve blood flow by preventing the constriction of blood vessels, thus enhancing the heart's efficiency in pumping blood throughout the body. This ultimately results in a reduction of symptoms associated with heart failure, such as fatigue, shortness of breath, and fluid retention, improving the dog's overall quality of life.

8.5mg Zenrelia for Dogs - Per Tablet

8.5mg Zenrelia for Dogs - Per Tablet

8.5mg Zenrelia for Dogs

8.5mg Zenrelia for Dogs is a prescription-only medication used to help manage the symptoms of atopic dermatitis in dogs (Atopy). Atopic dermatitis is a common, long-term skin condition that can significantly affect a dog’s comfort and overall wellbeing. Zenrelia is formulated to reduce the itching and inflammation that often accompany this condition, providing effective relief and improving quality of life.

Zenrelia contains an active ingredient that targets specific pathways in the immune system responsible for the itching and inflammation seen in atopic dermatitis. Unlike traditional anti-inflammatory drugs that act broadly, 8.5mg Zenrelia works by selectively blocking signals in the immune system that lead to the itch response.

When a dog with atopic dermatitis encounters an allergen, the immune system mistakenly identifies it as harmful and triggers a reaction. This process releases chemical messengers that cause the skin to itch and become inflamed. Zenrelia interferes with these signals, reducing the sensation of itching and calming the inflammation.

The 8.5mg strength is designed for small to medium-sized dogs and allows for accurate dosing according to weight. By interrupting the itch-scratch cycle, Zenrelia not only eases discomfort but also reduces the risk of further skin damage and secondary infections. Dogs that are less itchy are less likely to scratch and bite at their skin, which means healing can take place more effectively.

Vivitonin 50mg Tablet - each

Vivitonin 50mg Tablet - each

50mg Vivitonin for Dogs is a prescription-only medication used to support cognitive function and overall vitality in ageing dogs. It contains the active substance propentofylline, which has a range of effects that can help improve circulation, oxygenation, and mental alertness in elderly canines.

Vivitonin is commonly prescribed by veterinary professionals to address signs of dullness, lethargy, and reduced activity levels associated with age-related changes. It is available in scored tablets, making it easier to administer the correct dosage according to the dog’s weight and veterinary guidance.

How Vivitonin Works

The active ingredient in 50mg Vivitonin is propentofylline, a substance known for its ability to improve blood flow and enhance oxygen delivery to tissues. It acts by dilating blood vessels and reducing the stickiness of red blood cells and platelets, which improves circulation, particularly in the brain, heart, and skeletal muscles.

In older dogs, reduced blood flow and oxygen supply can contribute to fatigue, slower movement, and reduced interest in surroundings. By promoting better perfusion, Vivitonin helps these dogs maintain energy, cognitive function, and general responsiveness.

Additionally, propentofylline has mild bronchodilatory effects, which can support respiratory function, and it may reduce free radical damage by improving antioxidant activity within the body. While not a cure for ageing, it can significantly improve the quality of life in senior dogs displaying signs of cognitive decline or disinterest.

30mg Librela Solution for Dogs - 2 Vials

30mg Librela for Dogs is a vet-prescribed monthly injection that targets Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) to relieve osteoarthritis pain in dogs, helping improve comfort, mobility and daily activity at home.

Librela is a refrigerated medication - We will send it via Royal Mail Special Delivery using insulated packaging and ice packs. A signature is required on delivery and it must be put straight into a fridge. We cannot guarantee same day dispatch for orders placed after 12pm. VETERINARY PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED.

Osteoarthritis (Arthritis) is a long-term joint condition. In a healthy joint, smooth cartilage covers the ends of the bones and helps them glide with minimal friction. The joint also contains lubricating fluid and supportive tissues that keep movement stable. With osteoarthritis, cartilage gradually becomes damaged and less effective at cushioning. The joint lining can become inflamed, the joint can thicken, and movement can become painful and stiff. Dogs may avoid using the joint fully, which can lead to reduced muscle strength and poorer joint stability.

Osteoarthritis is common in older dogs, but it can develop at any age. Previous joint injury, repeated strain, and inherited joint conformation issues (such as hip or elbow dysplasia) can all contribute. Excess body weight is also important because it increases the load on painful joints and can worsen stiffness.

Librela 30mg contains bedinvetmab, which is a monoclonal antibody. Monoclonal antibodies are designed to target a specific molecule in the body. Bedinvetmab targets nerve growth factor (NGF), a signalling molecule involved in pain pathways. In osteoarthritis, NGF can contribute to ongoing pain by increasing the sensitivity of nerves in and around affected joints.

Because osteoarthritis is ongoing, Librela is usually repeated every month to help maintain consistent pain control. Your vet may suggest tracking changes in your dog’s daily activity and comfort, because gradual improvements can be easier to spot when you look back over a few weeks. If your dog’s mobility suddenly worsens, if they show new pain, or if you notice any change that concerns you, you should contact your veterinary practice for advice.
