Solensia for Cats - 7mg/ml - Pack of 2

Solensia for Cats is a prescription veterinary medicine used to help control pain associated with osteoarthritis (arthritis) in cats. It is given as a monthly injection by a veterinary professional or at home after training. Solensia is intended for cats that are showing pain-related changes such as stiffness, reduced willingness to jump, reluctance to climb, or reduced interest in play. Many cats with arthritis do not limp, so treatment is often based on the pattern of changes you notice at home alongside your vet’s examination findings.

Solensia is a refrigerated medication - We will send it via Royal Mail Special Delivery using insulated packaging and ice packs. A signature is required on delivery and it must be put straight into a fridge. We cannot guarantee same day dispatch for orders placed after 12pm. VETERINARY PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED.

Osteoarthritis is a long-term condition in which joints become less comfortable and less flexible. Cartilage can wear, the joint capsule can thicken, and tissues around the joint can become sensitive. Cats are skilled at hiding discomfort and they often adapt quietly by moving less. They may choose lower resting places, stop using high shelves, hesitate before jumping onto sofas and windowsills, or take longer routes that avoid climbing. Because these changes can happen gradually, arthritis can be present for some time before it becomes obvious.

Solensia contains frunevetmab, which is a monoclonal antibody. A monoclonal antibody is a targeted protein designed to attach to one specific substance in the body. In this case, Solensia binds to nerve growth factor (NGF). NGF plays an important role in activating and maintaining pain signals. In osteoarthritis, NGF released in and around affected joints can contribute to ongoing pain signalling from the joint to the nervous system. By binding to NGF, Solensia reduces NGF’s ability to activate its receptors and drive pain pathways. This can help reduce pain associated with osteoarthritis and support more comfortable movement.

Solensia works differently from anti-inflammatory medicines such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs mainly act by reducing the production of inflammatory mediators. Solensia targets NGF within the pain signalling process. Because it is a monthly injection rather than a daily oral medicine, it can be helpful for cats that are difficult to medicate at home. Your vet will decide whether Solensia is suitable for your cat, and whether any other treatments are needed alongside it.

Description

Cats with arthritis can show subtle signs that are easy to mistake for normal ageing. A cat may take longer to rise after rest, move more carefully on slippery floors, or avoid certain routes through the home. Changes in grooming are common, especially if bending and twisting becomes uncomfortable. You may notice a scruffier coat along the back, mats around the hips, or reduced grooming of the lower body. Some cats become less playful, sleep more, or seem irritable when handled around the hips or spine. Litter tray habits can also change if stepping in and out becomes uncomfortable.

The aim of Solensia treatment is to reduce arthritis pain so that everyday movement feels easier. When pain is better controlled, many cats show small but meaningful changes, such as getting up more smoothly after rest, jumping with less hesitation, moving more freely through the home, or returning to favourite resting places. Some cats also appear brighter and more sociable when discomfort is reduced. Response varies between individuals and can depend on factors such as which joints are affected, muscle strength, body weight, and how long the cat has been limiting activity.

Solensia is given as a subcutaneous injection, which means it is injected under the skin. It is usually administered once a month. The dose is selected according to your cat’s body weight, so accurate weighing is important at each visit. Keeping appointments on a regular schedule helps maintain consistent support. If an appointment is delayed, your vet can advise the best timing for the next dose and how to assess comfort between visits.

Arthritis management is usually most effective when medicine is combined with practical support at home. Maintaining a healthy body weight reduces strain on joints and can improve comfort over time. Gentle, regular movement is often better than occasional bursts of activity. Environmental adjustments can also make day-to-day life easier, including non-slip mats on smooth floors, low-sided litter trays, and steps or ramps to beds, sofas, and window ledges. Warm bedding and easy access to food and water can help older cats conserve energy and move comfortably.

Solensia does not cure osteoarthritis and it does not reverse joint changes. It is intended to control pain and support quality of life. Most cats tolerate Solensia well when it is used as directed by a vet, but side effects can occur. Some cats may experience mild, short-lived signs such as reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea, or lethargy. Mild injection-related reactions, such as temporary discomfort or skin irritation, can also occur. More serious reactions are uncommon but possible, and you should contact your vet promptly if you notice facial swelling, breathing changes, collapse, persistent vomiting, or any sudden change that concerns you. Your vet will consider your cat’s overall health, any other medicines or supplements, and appropriate monitoring during treatment.

How quickly can Solensia start to help?
Some cats show improvement within days to a couple of weeks, while others need longer to show clear change. Response can be gradual, especially if a cat has reduced activity for months. Many owners and vets assess progress over several weeks and across more than one injection.

How often is Solensia given?
Solensia is administered as a subcutaneous injection by a veterinary professional, usually once a month. The dose is chosen according to your cat’s body weight, so accurate weighing is important. Regular scheduling helps maintain consistent pain control and supports reliable assessment of response.

Does Solensia cure arthritis in cats?
Solensia does not cure osteoarthritis or reverse joint changes. Its purpose is pain control, which can improve comfort and quality of life. Arthritis management often also includes weight control, suitable activity, home adjustments such as ramps or steps, and addressing any other health issues found by your vet.

What are common signs of arthritis in cats?
Signs are often subtle. Common changes include hesitating before jumping, stiffness after rest, reduced interest in play, sleeping more, altered grooming leading to a scruffy coat, irritability when handled, and changes in litter tray use. A vet assessment is important because many conditions can look similar.

What can I do at home to help an arthritic cat?
Provide non-slip surfaces, warm bedding, and easy access to food, water and litter. Use low-sided trays and add steps or ramps to favourite resting places. Keep key resources on one level if possible. Maintaining a healthy weight and encouraging gentle, regular movement can support comfort.

BD Discardit 2ml Syringe with 21g Needle - each

BD Discardit 2ml Syringe with 21g Needle - each

This 2ml syringe with an attached 21-gauge (21g) needle is suitable for administering specific medications to cats and dogs that require subcutaneous injections. Each syringe is individually packaged, sterile, and designed for single use only. This product is commonly used in veterinary practices and at home under veterinary guidance.

The syringe has a 2ml capacity and is fitted with a 21g needle. This needle size is considered suitable for administering certain subcutaneous or intramuscular injections in cats and dogs, depending on the medication and the animal’s size and condition. The 21g needle offers a balance between needle strength and minimal discomfort during injection, making it appropriate for routine use with specific veterinary biologics.

This type of syringe is appropriate for administering Solensia, Librela, and Cytopoint, which are injectable monoclonal antibody therapies used to manage chronic pain and allergic dermatitis in pets. These medications are typically prescribed for monthly administration and are given via subcutaneous injection. The 21g needle provides a suitable gauge for delivering the full dose efficiently while maintaining comfort for the animal.

Solensia is prescribed for the management of osteoarthritis pain in cats. It is given once a month via subcutaneous injection. The 2ml syringe allows for accurate dosing, and the 21g needle is appropriate for the viscosity of the Solensia solution and for delivering it under the skin in a cat with minimal stress and tissue trauma.

Librela is used in dogs to treat pain associated with osteoarthritis. Like Solensia, it is administered subcutaneously once a month. The 21g needle is appropriate for most dog breeds and sizes, as it enables smooth delivery of the medication while being strong enough to penetrate the skin effectively without bending or breaking.

Cytopoint is another monoclonal antibody therapy, used to manage allergic dermatitis in dogs. It is also given as a monthly subcutaneous injection. The 2ml capacity of the syringe provides ample volume to accommodate the required dose, and the 21g needle is compatible with the formulation’s consistency and administration method.

This syringe and needle combination should not be used for insulin administration in cats or dogs. Veterinary insulin products such as Caninsulin and Prozinc require specific insulin syringes that are calibrated differently from standard 2ml syringes. Insulin syringes are typically marked in units, not millilitres, and have finer, shorter needles such as 29g or 30g, which are designed to deliver precise insulin doses in small volumes. Using a standard 2ml syringe for insulin injections can lead to inaccurate dosing and can be dangerous to the animal.

Senvelgo for Cats with Diabetes - 30ml

Senvelgo for Cats with Diabetes - 30ml

Senvelgo for Cats - The New Treatment for Diabetes in Cats

30ml Senvelgo for Cats is a prescription-only veterinary medicine (POM-V) that may be prescribed for cats with diabetes. Senvelgo is an oral liquid that is given once daily using a dosing syringe, with the dose and treatment plan set by your Vet. Senvelgo is intended to support long-term control of blood glucose and reduce the clinical signs of diabetes when it is appropriate for your cat.

Diabetes in Cats is a condition where blood glucose (blood sugar) stays too high because the body cannot produce enough insulin, cannot use insulin effectively, or both. Insulin is the hormone that helps glucose move from the blood into the body’s cells to be used for energy. In cats, diabetes is often linked to insulin resistance, where insulin is present but does not work as well as it should. Over time, the pancreas may also become less able to produce enough insulin to meet the body’s needs.

How Senvelgo Works

Senvelgo works in a different way from insulin injections. It acts primarily at the kidneys. When blood passes through the kidneys, glucose is filtered into the urine-forming fluid and is normally reabsorbed back into the bloodstream. Senvelgo reduces this reabsorption by blocking a transporter that moves glucose back into the body. As a result, more glucose leaves the body in the urine, which can lower blood glucose levels. This insulin-independent approach is one reason oral treatment may be considered for some cats, under veterinary guidance.

Because Senvelgo increases the amount of glucose passed in urine, it can also increase the amount of water passed in urine. Increased urination and increased thirst can occur during treatment. Fresh water should always be available. A sudden reduction in drinking, repeated vomiting, significant lethargy, or signs of dehydration need veterinary advice promptly, because dehydration can worsen quickly in diabetic cats.

Suitability for Senvelgo depends on your cat’s overall health and the type and stability of their diabetes. A vet will assess clinical signs, weight and body condition, and test results before recommending a treatment. Oral diabetes medicines are generally considered for cats that are stable and do not have evidence of diabetic ketoacidosis. Diabetic ketoacidosis is a serious emergency where ketones build up in the body and cause dangerous dehydration and acidity. It can occur alongside vomiting, refusal to eat, profound lethargy, weakness, and abnormal or rapid breathing. A vet may recommend a different approach, including insulin and supportive care, if there are ketones present, if the cat is unwell, or if there are other complicating conditions.

Senvelgo is given by mouth. Many owners find it easiest to dose at the same time each day to support a consistent routine. The dosing syringe is usually placed into the side of the mouth, aimed towards the cheek pouch, and the liquid is given slowly to allow swallowing. Your veterinary practice will advise what to do if a dose is missed. A double dose should not be given unless a vet has specifically instructed it. If a cat spits out a dose or vomits soon after dosing, a vet should advise whether any action is needed, because repeating a dose without guidance can increase risk.

Gomega for Cats - 65ml

Gomega for Cats - 65ml

Gomega for Cats is a concentrated source of Omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs) designed to be added to a cat’s normal diet. Omega-3 EFAs are fats that the body uses for healthy skin, coat quality, and normal inflammatory balance. Cats cannot make enough Omega-3 on their own, so they need a dependable dietary source.

Gomega for Cats is based on fish oils, which naturally provide EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). These forms are useful because cats have a limited ability to convert plant-based Omega-3 (such as ALA from flax) into EPA and DHA. A fish-oil source supplies these fatty acids in a form the body can use directly.

Omega-3 works by supporting cell membranes and signalling. After the oil is eaten, EPA and DHA are absorbed in the small intestine and carried in the bloodstream to tissues around the body. They become part of cell membranes, which are the outer layers of every cell. When Omega-3 levels in membranes are higher, cells can produce a different balance of signalling molecules involved in inflammation. This is one reason Omega-3 supplementation is often used to support comfort, mobility, and skin health.
