Neptra is a single-dose treatment for canine otitis externa (OE) in Dogs.

Amodip 1.25mg for Cats is a prescription-only medication used to manage systemic hypertension (high blood pressure) in cats. It contains the active ingredient amlodipine besylate, which belongs to a class of medicines called calcium channel blockers. This medicine is widely used in veterinary medicine to help reduce and control blood pressure in feline patients.

Amodip comes in chewable tablets that are flavoured to make administration easier. Each tablet contains 1.25mg of amlodipine, which is the most commonly recommended starting dose for cats. It is licensed for veterinary use in the UK and is usually prescribed by vets when a cat has been diagnosed with persistent high blood pressure.

How Amodip Works

Amodip works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the blood vessel walls. It does this by inhibiting the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. This relaxation causes the vessels to widen (vasodilation), which lowers the resistance against blood flow and helps reduce blood pressure.

Lowering blood pressure reduces the strain on the heart and can help prevent damage to organs such as the kidneys, brain, and eyes. In cats, high blood pressure can lead to serious health issues including blindness, seizures, and kidney failure. By maintaining blood pressure within a normal range, Amodip can support long-term health and improve a cat's quality of life.

How Galliprant Works

Galliprant works by blocking the EP4 receptor, which is primarily responsible for pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. Unlike traditional NSAIDs, which inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, Galliprant specifically targets this receptor without affecting other prostaglandins that support normal bodily functions.

This selective action reduces the risk of gastrointestinal, kidney, and liver side effects that are commonly associated with other NSAIDs. Because it works at the root of inflammation rather than through broad suppression, Galliprant provides effective pain relief while maintaining overall health and well-being.
